News from Roselle Teen Scene

Friday, June 21, 2013 it's official!

So summer is now officially here!  School may be out, summer sports may be in full swing, but the first day of summer technically starts on June 21, the longest day of the year!  This year that day just happens to be a Friday.  Now is about the time when you realize you the 4th of July is almost here, summer is half over, and you feel like it hasn't even begun yet!  You also may be stalled on your reading goal, so this post is to remind you to get in and get reading.  Like the funny picture says "Reading...because sometimes you have to give your video games a break!"  Or sports, or watching TV, or movies, or...well you get the picture!

This is the perfect time to get a head start on that summer reading project for school.  No required reading for the next school year?  No problem!  Now is also the perfect time to try and find something new to read.  How about a mystery or a new fantasy series?  Or maybe historical fiction is your thing.  No matter what you read, we've got something for you!

Stop by the Teen Area to check out the new book display all about this year's summer reading theme: "Have Book - Will Travel!".  There are books about time travel, and books about traveling from one country to another.  There are books about going on road trips, and books that can transport you to another planet!  Here are just a few titles from the book display.  Click on the link to check for availability.

Railsea by China Mieville
Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta
Crash Into Me by Albert Borris
Going Nowhere Faster by Sean Beaudoin
The Car by Gary Paulsen

Also, be on the lookout for a bunch of Abe Award books to make their way into our collection this summer!  Before school starts, we should be the proud owners of multiple copies of each title, which means more chances for everyone to read these fantastic books!  I will definitely be posting about it as soon as they arrive, so stay tuned...
