Banned Books Week 2013!

September 22 - 28

So it's one of those things that you think about, and think about, and get excited about, and then's over.  Maybe it's just the Librarian in me, (in fact, I'm sure it's the Librarian in me...) but Banned Books week is one of my favorite times of year, and this year I feel like it was here and gone with out anyone realizing it!

Have no fear! While we may only celebrate banned books for one week out of the year, that does not mean that you can't celebrate them all year long!

Last year I was able to get in several posts about Banned Books Week: banned vs. challenged, the most challenged books of 2011 (it's always a year behind!), the history of banned books week, and of course one post on my favorite banned books!  Click HERE to check them out if you missed them last year!

So without further ado, here are a few of my favorite banned books from the last several years:
  1. Looking for Alaska by John Green
  2. Harry Potter (series) by J.K. Rowling
  3. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie
  4. Crank by Ellen Hopkins
  5. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher (2013 Abraham Lincoln Award Winner)
Happy Reading!

And remember... The worst part of censorship is noknowit ng !
