Back to School with Databases!
I know, I know...It's not your favorite time of year (but for some reason I bet it's your parents! haha). The summer is basically over and now it's time to head back to school. Hopefully you got all of your required reading out of the way early and it counted towards your summer reading goal! And hopefully you got all of your math packets done and anything else you needed to have completed by the first day of school (Hero's Journey, anyone?).
But now comes the rest of the school year!
Don't forget about the Library this school year while you are working on school projects. If you are anything like I was (or most of the people I know) you may wait until the last minute to work on school projects...it happens to the best of us. But just so you know, with a Roselle Public Library Card number and 4-digit PIN you have access to a ton of great databases from the comfort of your own home 24 HOURS A DAY! Yay doing homework in slippers!
Need help with Math, Social Studies, English? Try out Tutor.com. They have LIVE HOMEWORK HELP from 4pm-10pm everyday! You actually work with a real, live person on the other end that you can ask question to about Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, writing help, social studies, and so much more! Go on, give it a try!
Need help with your language class? Try out our Mango Languages database! There's even an app for that (of course!) just make sure that you have created an account in the Library first before you try to work through the app on your phone or tablet. There are 63 different languages you can check out with this cool database, and there is definitely Spanish, French, and German!
Looking for something great to read? Try out eMedia Library. This is our downloadable ebook database where there are all sorts of great reads on there, maybe even the book you need for that English class?? There are even audio books on here for you audiophiles :)
Need two articles by morning? Try out EbscoHOST. Get access to all kind of FULL TEXT articles right away! Plus, EbscoHost will provide you with citation information and allow you to email articles to yourself if you need, or print them off. Just a heads up - Not EVERYTHING on there is full text! Make sure you click the box that says FULL TEXT when you go to do your search, that way you only see what you can access and read right away.
So get back into school mode with all the right tools at your fingertips! If you ever have any questions about a database, make sure to stop in the Library and ask at the Reference Desk! We love to help and to show off the great databases that the Library provides for you!
Here's to a great start to another great school year!
